The painted portrait technique is a modern alternative to traditional oil paintings. Using a unique mixed media approach, I blend both photography and painting together to achieve an authentic likeness of the subject in a portrait painting on canvas that rivals the look and feel of an original oil painting.

Each painting commission begins with one or more reference images and is transformed into a work of art, using a painting software as my primary medium. Using a tablet and electronic brush, I am able to deconstruct, rebuild and re-imagine the original reference image stroke by stroke, as an organic-looking, hand-painted rendering. The tools I use range from modern electronic brushes to traditional artist's brushes with oils and glazes on the finished canvas. In the end, you will have a painting that everyone will love!
